SCUBA diving

Scuba diving ("SCUBA" originally being an acronym for self contained underwater breathing apparatus, now widely considered a word in its own right) is a form of underwater diving in which a diver uses a scuba set to breathe underwater.
Unlike early diving, which relied exclusively on air pumped from the surface, scuba divers carry their own source of breathing gas (usually compressed air), allowing them greater freedom than with an air line. Both surface supplied and scuba diving allow divers to stay underwater significantly longer than with breath-holding techniques as used in snorkeling and free-diving. Depending on the purpose of the dive, a diver usually moves underwater by swim fins attached to the feet, but external propulsion can come from an underwater vehicle, or a sled pulled from the surface.

How to get your diving license:  Course

SABAH DIVERS, with our head office in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia is the diving division of BORNEO ANCHOR TRAVEL & TOURS SDN BHD (Malaysian Ministry of Tourism license number 3956). We operate one of the leading scuba diving education & training centres in South East Asia. The sole SSI (Scuba Schools     International) platinum facility in Borneo we have won the SSI Best Dealer award for the South East Asian Region four times in the past six years.

At SABAH DIVERS, we run a full-service dive shop and offer scuba diving courses from beginner right through to professional level (instructor) . We have a resident Instructor Certifier and a whole team of qualified and enthusiastic staff instructors & dive masters to serve you.

SABAH DIVERS can provide PADI and SSI courses in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. We also organize diving tours to popular dive destinations all over Borneo, such as Sipadan and Layang Layang. For friends & families of divers who do not dive, we can arrange for you land
, river, mountain & aerial tours of destinations and resorts in Sabah, or simply a relaxing day on the beach. Sabah is well known for its nature, wildlife and adventure destinations.

Sipadan Island is the first word on everyone's lips when discussing diving in Borneo and it truly is one of the finest dive spots on the planet but there is much more, such as Layang Layang - a little speck of an atoll off the north coast of Sabah which is fringed by some of the best coral fields you are likely to see. However it is for the huge schools of scalloped hammerhead sharks that patrol around the island that Laying Layang has developed the reputation as a 'must see' Malaysia diving destination. Other places such as Mabul, Kapalai and Mataking Island are world renowned destinations for macro dives.
Coming Diving?  Here's How To Get Here
Scuba Junkie is located in Semporna, which is on the east coast of Sabah, Malaysia on the island of Borneo. Semporna has links to both major international and national transport hubs, so whether you're on a two-week holiday from overseas or coming by bus on a year-long backpacking trip, we've got you covered.
Kota Kinabalu

Air Asia and Malaysian Airlines offer daily flights from KK to Tawau and are probably your cheapest options for flying. Buses leave daily from KK directly to Semporna at 7:30 am and 7:30pm. Bus rides take about 8 hours and flights are about 45 minutes.
Kuala Lumpur
You can now fly directly from Kuala Lumpur to Tawau on Air Asia. Alternately, you can take a flight to KK and connect to either Tawau or Semporna from there (see above).
Sandakan
Buses coming from Kota Kinabalu stop in Sandakan daily and can drop you right in Semporna.

  6. as i know, kids 9 years old and above can learn to dive, as long as they know how to swim. Its not necessary for you to be a good swimmer but at least you know how to swim.
